What is your role at your host site?
I am the Physical Activity Educator, and I will educate students in Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties on healthy lifestyles and staying active in order to reduce child obesity rates.
Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?
I joined AmeriCorps because I wanted to serve my community in my town and because it only required a year. I joined NFHC because it allowed me not only to serve my community but also to educate Jacksonville on important topics and make permanent changes in today’s youth.
What are you hoping to gain from your year of service?
I hope to gain positive experiences, network with professionals, improve public speaking skills, and make new friends.
What are your plans after AmeriCorps service?
After AmeriCorps, I plan on getting a full time job in the education field.
Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I see myself being an educator, being mentally and physically healthy, travelling the world one country at a time, starting a family, and being in a happy marriage.
