Educational Background: Graduated with a BA in International Studies, concentrating in Globalization, Development and Human Rights and a minor in French.

Philadelphia Health Corps Role: Health & Benefits Advocate at FPCN Abbottsford Falls

Why did you join AmeriCorps/National Health Corps?  I joined PHC because I wanted to get a better understanding of how complex the health disparities are within Philadelphia and the indepth solutions to solve them.  I'm now learning that the efforts of both myself and my fellow Corps members may at first seem small, but they really do help the larger population.

Where do you want to be in five years? What do you want to be doing?  In five years I'd like to be involved in a career that allows me to both educate the public (both nationally and internationally) about health disparities and research solutions for those disparities and influence public policy towards them. Perhaps teaching at the university level would be nice too.

What is your favorite part of service?  My favorite part of being in PHC is interacting with my Corps member and patients. Communicating is something that I love doing so talking with a patient or even my fellow members is quite energizing.

What is your favorite part of Philadelphia?  My favorite part of Philadelphia is Center City, as busy as it is there is always a small spot, corner or avenue where I feel content and peaceful.
